Karen is grateful to the W̱SÁNEĆ people which includes W̱JOȽEȽP (Tsartlip) and SȾÁUTW̱ (Tsawout) First Nations, the keepers this land who remain here as the original and rightful stewards, for allowing her to work, play and reside on their traditional and unceded territory.  Thank you.

Karen was inspired to become an artist by a lineage of successful painters her Great Aunt and Uncle, Catherine and Peter Whyte.  In fact, her first successful exhibition "Sun Dog," an exhibit of large equine images, was presented at the Whyte Museum in Banff.  She received a master's at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education before studying at the Victoria College of Art while working in Development at the University of Victoria.
