Painting and drawing have been part of Karen’s life for as long as she can remember. She received her Diploma at Victoria College of Art in 2003. Since that time, her work has been shown in several juried group and solo shows, most notable sole shows at the Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies in Banff, the McPherson Library Gallery at the University of Victoria, the Maple Ridge Art Gallery and Station House Gallery in Williams Lake. Karen is a member of the Phyllis Serota Studio Group in Victoria BC and the Metchosin ArtPod Collective in Metchosin BC. She now resides and creates  and teaches in Penticton, BC
