Kees Van Eyk
Visual artist
Kees was born in the city of Leiden in the Netherlands in 1935.
At age 14 he started seriously painting and never looked back.
Initially he painted mostly landscapes and birds, but in the 70s his style loosened and his subjects switched to mostly modern city scapes.
Later Kees attempted to paint in the style of old masters of the
16th and 17th century, including Johannes Vermeer, Rembrandt van Rijn and other well-known artists of the time.
To his surprise he succeeded more than he could ever have imagined.
Kees now feels that the sky is the limit:
He can do any style of painting that appeals to him, please all sorts of
art lovers, and defy being categorized for any specific style.
In the meantime he paints every day
and hopes to do so for years to come.
